PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR
Principal Investigator
Sam Inayat studies how the brain encodes sensory-evoked and self-generated signals across rest, sleep, locomotion, and other actions. His lab integrates neuroimaging, electrophysiology, pupillography, videography, and computational analysis to connect cellular and circuit dynamics with behavior.

Graduate Researcher (PhD Student)
Pratik Paranjape is a PhD student in UNLV’s Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program whose research integrates neuroengineering, behavioral neuroscience, and computational analysis. He develops custom behavioral and imaging systems and studies early sensorimotor signatures of Alzheimer’s disease using multimodal behavior, two-photon imaging, and quantitative analysis.
Graduate Researcher (PhD Student)
Tahoura Mohammadi Ghohaki is a PhD student in UNLV’s Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program with a background in veterinary medicine. Her research combines behavioral neuroscience, neuroengineering, and computational analysis, including multimodal behavioral-imaging systems, rodent surgical methods, and MATLAB- and DeepLabCut-based analysis to investigate neural mechanisms relevant to behavior and neurodegenerative disease.
Graduate Researcher (PhD Student)
Louis Barlaan is a PhD student in the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program whose research interests center on understanding how movement is generated by neural circuits and how these circuits are affected in neurodegenerative disease states. He is particularly interested in integrating behavioral approaches and electrophysiology to investigate these mechanisms, with the long-term goal of applying this knowledge toward developing technologies that can augment or restore motor function.

Undergraduate Contributor
Tamara Areizaga is an undergraduate contributor with experience in bioinformatics, comparative genomics, genome and protein annotation, and literature-based molecular biology research. Her current work with ADOMIC focuses on biological curation and scientific review of research on Alzheimer’s disease, astrocyte–neuron metabolic coupling, cellular stress, and proteostasis.
